Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has presented the Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office to His Majesty, King Charles Douglas MacPepple Jaja, Jeki VI, Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom.
The Governor said the presentation completes the succession process following the death and burial of the late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, and the subsequent selection and coronation of his successor. He also explained that his absence from the coronation was due to an official national assignment and should not be interpreted politically.
Governor Fubara congratulated the monarch and urged him to unite all sections of Opobo Kingdom while prioritizing education, healthcare, security and the growth of small and medium-scale businesses. He also challenged title holders and prominent indigenous people to translate their positions and influence into visible development for the kingdom.
In his response, King Charles described the recognition as a sacred trust and pledged to lead with justice, peace, dignity and inclusiveness. He promised to build on the legacy of King Jaja of Opobo through service, development and unity, as the presentation marks a new chapter in the history of Opobo Kingdom.
